Holy Family— I’m sorry because you’ve been great with the delivery of my children, and even broken bones when I was a teen. However I was informed that Shelby Rush is a physician transferring to your hospital from Deer Park Chas and I think you should read my posted review below on my very first appointment with Dr. Rush. Again, I’m sorry to leave a bad review for Holy Family; but this doctor is wildly disrespectful, rude, dismissive, condescending, all around terrible.
Shelby Rush is the most unprofessional, disrespectful, condescending doctor I have ever met. Terrible first impression all around for you guys at Chas really. I was getting over the flu and had some sharp pain in my right lung so I decided to seek help. Traditionally your doctor enters the room and says “Hello, I’m doctor Rush, nice to meet you, I hear you’re having trouble with (such and such)”— Shelby enters and the very first thing she says is “It smells like Marijuana!” To which I replied “Well, I’m freshly showered, getting over the flu and here for lung pain.. so..” HOW RUDE. Be professional. Your provider immediately backpedaled with the defense “I have many patients that work on the pot farms and whatnot so occasionally it’ll smell on the clothes.” Again, we are not focused on why I am visiting your clinic, and now we are discussing Shelby Rush’s other patients personal lives and professions— that is not why I came. I expressed that her initial comment and first impression was pretty much right out the window because it was rude, and lead with the accusation that I was high. I do not care about the legality or anything, YOU ARE A DOCTOR, be professional, I used the analogy that if a patient of hers works for a brewery does she walk in saying “It smells like alcohol.”— I imagine not, she would be implying THAT person is intoxicated. I honestly just shut up and listened to her speak throughout a wasted hour at your clinic. Shelby Rush also expressed to me “I treat all of my patients the same.” I just don’t think she is self aware of her words, actions, lack of bedside manor, and even medical advice. When she said she treats all her patients the same, I felt concerned more so— If I felt this horrible on my first visit, is Shelby really THIS rude and condescending to everyone? I still feel pain in my right lung. She just treated me like a stupid dramatic teenager and insisted “It’s not cancer, at your age it wouldn’t be cancer” I expressed to her that I was sure it wasn’t! But I am also aware of other respiratory illnesses and viruses that can develop and make someone more susceptible to such serious diseases. I ask her that as well, are there not other respiratory illnesses that could cause larger issues for a person in the future? Am I right or wrong? She hastily replied “You’re wrong.” I was just ready for the appointment to end. Absolutely no help! I’m not a grumpy old man that’s hard to please. I needed help. I except the help when I need it, but something is seriously wrong when a 26 year old struggles to form a bond with a doctor and find a DECENT primary provider. Chas, you disappoint me.

My first visit at holy family hospital was 36 years ago to give birth to my son. All went well and they had a great maternity department. I can't say the rest has been a good experience for me. Since the birth of my son. I have experienced the worst quality of care anyone could ever get and I highly recommend no one use this hospital ever. I took my son in with pneumonia when he was a year and a half old was told repeatedly for a week. Nothing was wrong yet. He ended up in the hospital. I stayed with him 24/7 when I did leave for 10 minutes to go have a cigarette. I came back to his door, closed the IV wrapped around his neck and the nurses completely ignoring his cries. Since then I have had other bad experiences also and one of the worst ever has been within the past month. A dear friend of mine went in with breathing problems 3 days later after she was doing well. The doctor came in and told her daughter they were taking her off of the fast air oxygen and began to tell her how her mother would react when she quit breathing and died. They just wanted to give up and pull the plug. Thank God that was stopped. She has recovered nicely and was put into rehab because the doctors at Providence holy family hospital left her in the bed for a month. Never let her exercise. So now she's in rehab to regain the muscle strength in her legs. She has bed sores and the report they gave to the physical therapist said she had only been there for 3 days. The practices at holy family hospital are atrocious. If you want to die go there. Nothing great at all to say at all about that place. You guys suck

Worst hospital ever. My mom has stage four cancer and they aren’t going to her when needed. Mom was covered in stickiness and it took 30 mins after she pressed the button and be calling twice to see what’s going on and why they weren’t helping her! Just to leave me with some one being rude about it. You can’t blame me for being worried when I read all these comments and reviews. Do better. Actually do your job. K thanks !!

Had a family member go in with breathing problems and chest pain. The staff did the initial tests to identify that it wasn't immediate life or death and then we proceeded to sit in an almost empty (10 patients or less) waiting room for 2 hours. With the extremely long wait times between any form of service, our trip to the ER here lasted over 5 hours whereas the other local hospitals would have had us out in not more than 2 hours and probably less than 1.

I had a stroke at a very young age last week and this was the closest hospital to home. My roommate had me brought here by ambulance and I was put in their care. Not only did they work hard to get me stable and prevent any lasting damage, they were all courteous, kind, respectful and very helpful. My privacy and various requests were honored, any questions I had were asked, and everyone - from the doctor on duty, to nurses, room service, janitorial, and just passing specialists would check in to see if I needed anything above and beyond the scope of their duty. This is my first time as a patient here, but I would trust them to look after me again.
